What is Kilim?
Pronunciation: kE-‘lEm
The romance and ancient cultural, heritage and traditions surrounding the art of Kilim-weaving makes it increasingly difficult to accurately interpret, dating back to Neolithic times.
The formation of these carpets is undoubtably strenuous and laborious work, with the artistry of the design taking on the personality of its highly-skilled creator, using her and her family’s traditional motifs, style and of course the natural land that surrounds them in the use of natural dyes and the variants of wool available to them.
They are at once stunningly unique yet full of history.
