The Painter Slipper
Flora encountered Paul when they were admiring the same sculpture in the Tate; it was called ‘Ice Tray Filled With Sand,’ and it appeared to be just that. Some people would look at this and think, ‘a child could do that,’ thought Flora, but it really speaks to me.
Paul cast an appreciative glance in her direction and cleared his throat: “I suppose some people would think that a child could do better, but not me. It’s truly moving.”
Flora looked at Paul as if seeing him for the first time. Which she was. “I completely agree,” she replied, breathlessly. How can two strangers have so much in common? she wondered. And he’s so handsome. Great jawline, nice arms…
Flora was about to suggest a coffee when she glanced down and caught sight of Paul’s shoes.
Oh…pity. She sighed softly and walked away.
This story could have ended differently if Paul had been wearing Arthur Sleep’s Painter shoes. Save yourself from a lifetime of loneliness and rejection. Wear Arthur Sleep.
